The final paper requires you to examine the healthcare evidence related to your topic of choice and examine multiple aspects of the body of publications- which goes beyond explaining studies individually. You need to examine the studies as a group of evidence; this includes comparing studies and contrasting them as a group. (This is not “study 1 says XYZ and study 2 says ABX”. This means “Studies 1, 3, and 5 found X to be a better treatment than Y. However, Study 2s results found Y was a better treatment for a specific population.”) Ultimately this is a review and synthesis of literature related to your topic.

Sample questions you want to ask yourself to guide this assignment include:

what about the studies was the same- methods, results, target populations, variables being examined, etc (compare the studies)
what was different (contrast the studies)
did results from different studies conflict or support one another
how does this evidence support current practices or support a change from current practices

Microsoft Word document; use APA: title page, reference page, 10-12 pages of content (not including title or reference pages) that includes the synthesis of 9-10 research studies.
You will probably have to use additional references to discuss the background of the topic, statistical analysis, and/or information about nursing research in general (like your textbook for example).
Use published studies that detail quantitative or qualitative studies (primary studies) – no literature review, meta-analysis, meta-aggregation, systematic review, expert panel, review of guidelines, protocols, editorials, or background information publications will count toward the total of 9-10 studies.
At least 3 quantitative studies.

Introduction
Publication Summaries – short narrative description of each article including: type of study, the population studied, sample size, goal of study, and significant results – Be Specific!
Synthesis & Discussion – this section is the analysis of all of the publications together as a body of evidence. This includes compare/contrast of the studies as a group. Were any studies “outliers” (much different in population or results than the others)? Did the studies clarify a needed change in practice? Did the evidence make the topic more understandable or are you left with even more questions? What limitations did the studies have and would there be a way to overcome those? – Be Specific! Every time you write about any study you must cite it. If you write about several studies at once cite them all- i.e. “Three studies found that graduate school is stressful (Abrams, 2018; Jones & Lamas, 2017; Smith & Franks, 2019).”
Potential Study Design – now that you have examined all of these studies, design your own! What do you think would work well for your topic? What missing information still needs to be examined? Include target population, target number of participants (N), type of study, and overview of how you would conduct study (overview of study methodology). – Be Specific!
